"Rhythm & Blues" -  The Occam Singers’ Autumn 2015 concert

On Saturday (17 October) Holy Trinity Church, Guildford was packed for a toe-tappingly upbeat programme performed by
The Occam Singers.

Following a fascinating live interview with singer/songwriter and film composer, Sarah Class, the first half of the concert featured hauntingly beautiful songs from Sarah’s latest album, "Unity", with the choir providing the backing vocals.
The second half of the concert comprised the exciting and inspirational “Mass in Blue” by Guildford composer Will Todd. The choir was accompanied by a jazz trio with Mark Kinkaid on piano, Chris Caldwell on alto sax and Christopher Xuereb on double bass. The soprano soloist, Robyn Allegra Parton (finalist in the 2012 Kathleen Ferrier Awards ), stunned the audience with her extraordinary range and heartfelt solos. The choir’s performance was also received enthusiastically, garnering a standing ovation after the final fortissimo declaration of credo (I believe).

In the interval, refreshments were served by The Samson Centre for Multiple Sclerosis, which is the Occam Singers' Charity of the Year.

The Occam Singers’ traditional Christmas concert "Christus Natus Est" will take place at St Nicolas’ Church, Guildford on Saturday 19 December at 6.30.
